Gov’t says House Speaker Abadula Gemeda submitted resignation letter

Addis Ababa, October 9, 2017 (FBC) –The government of Ethiopia confirmed that Abadula Gemeda, Speaker of the House of People’s Representatives (HPR) had submitted a request to resign from his post.

Dr Negeri Lencho, Minister of Government Communication Affairs Office told FBC yesterday that Abadula had submitted his resignation letter to the Prime Minister and his organization, the Oromo People Democratic Organization (OPDO).

The request of the Speaker is under review, Dr Negeri said.

Similarly, Abadula told local media that he had requested the government to resign from his post, adding he will make known the reason for his resignation in the future.
