SEPDM vows to scale up development efforts by strengthening unity of people

Addis Ababa, October 20, 2017 (FBC) – Hailemariam Desalegn, Chairperson of the Southern Ethiopian People's Democratic Movement (SEPDM) said the Movement would scale up its efforts for development by strengthening the unity of the people.

Hailemariam, who is also Chairperson of the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), made the remark today at the winding up of the celebrations of SEPDM’s Silver Jublee in Hawassa town, the capital of the Southern Nations, Nationalities and People’s (SNNP) regional state.

The Chairperson, who blamed the past regimes for plunging the country and the people into poverty and backwardness, said SEPDM has registered several development successes over the past 25 years by coping with challenges and passing through difficult situations.

SEPDM/EPRDF played its part to respond to the demand of the people, maintain peace and stability as well as to bring about social and economic growth in the regional state and the country, Hailemariam said.

The ongoing journey to prosperity could be attained by realizing our plans properly, dwindling rent seeking mentality and deterring the efforts of those who attempt to hamper the deep reform program which the country has launched to fight against rent seeking, corruption and maladministration.

In his concluding remark, the Chairperson called for more efforts for the achievements of the ongoing reform program and journey towards the renaissance of the country.
