PM Hailemariam meets with Qatari Emir

Addis Ababa, November 14, 2017 (FBC) – Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn conferred with Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in Doha today.

During the discussion, the Emir said his country wants to cooperate with Ethiopia in the socio-economic sectors.

He further said Qatar is keen to take advantage of Ethiopia’s favorable investment and business opportunities.

Stating that Ethiopia is a strategic partner for Qatar, the Emir praised Ethiopia’s contribution to stabilize the Horn of Africa region.

Prime Minister Hailemariam for his part requested Qatar to support Ethiopia’s development activities.

The two sides also signed an agreement on the abolition of visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and private and service passports, and an agreement on mutual encouragement and protection of investment.

Earlier, Prime Minister Hailemariam visited the Qatari Foundation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia.
