PM Hailemariam holds talks with Puntland President

Addis Ababa, November 21, 2017 (FBC) – Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn today received and held talks with President of Puntland, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali.

During the discussion conducted at his office, the Premier said the benefit is for all sides if Ethiopia, Somalia and Puntland forge cooperation in security, economy, infrastructure and trade.

It is necessary to create fertile ground to facilitate trade between Ethiopia and Somalia as the people of the two countries share common cultural and social values at their common border, he said.

He further underscored the need to carry out activities that smooth the progress of economic integration, such as infrastructures.

The prevailing of peace and stability in Somalia and Puntland has its own contribution for Ethiopia’s sustainable peace, he said, adding the two countries will work together in the fight against Al-Shabaab and other anti-peace forces

President of Puntland, Abdiweli Mohamed Ali, for his part said that his country wants to cooperate with Ethiopia in the areas of security, economy, infrastructure and trade.

According to office of the Prime Minister, the President also sought Ethiopia’s experience as his country is conducting civil service reform.
