Chile to strengthen economic relation with Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 22, 2017 (FBC) -Chile will strengthen trade and investment with Ethiopia keeping the comparative advantage of the two countries, departing Ambassador Jaime Andres Chomali Garib said.

He had discussion today with President Mulatu Teshome about ways of strengthening bilateral relations.

Ambassador Chomali Garib said Chile is in particular interested in working in air transport.

“We had negotiated service agreement with the Ethiopian Civil aviation Authority to work together. And I hope we will implement the agreement soon,” the Ambassador added.

Ambassador Chomali Garib appreciated Ethiopia’s commitment to work with Chile in various investment areas including agro-business.

President Mulatu Teshome on his part expressed the commitment of the government of Ethiopia in creating conducive environment for investors from Chile.

The president stressed that the people-to-people relation of the two countries needs to be improved in parallel with the economic ties.

According to ENA, diplomatic relation between Ethiopia and Chile began in the late 1980s.
