Addis Ababa, November 22, 2017 (FBC) –The negotiation held so far with political parties have paid off in terms of widening the political platform, said the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF).

Shiferaw Shigute, EPRDF’s office head, briefed local journalists today on the talks held so far with political parties and other related issues.

Of the agendas tabled by the political parties for negotiation, talks on two of them were concluded, he said.

The negotiations held on both mixed electoral system and electoral law were crucial towards improving the political spaces, the head said.

The ruling party, EPRDF, will work with parties as well as conduct consultations with the civic society, intellectuals and the public to broaden the political space, Shiferaw noted.

He further said EPRDF will welcome those parties excluded from the talks if they want to negotiate on the discussed agenda and other issues, he said.

Shiferaw also briefed the journalists on the successes as well as the ups and downs faced since the past two years, including areas that should be rectified in the future.
