EPRDF, CPC hold bilateral talks in Beijing

Addis Ababa, November 29, 2017 (FBC) –The ruling party, the Ethiopian People's Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF), held bilateral talks with the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing, China.

A delegation led by Demeke Mekonnen, Deputy Chairman of EPRDF and Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia is in Beijing to attend the world political parties high-level meeting, which will be held from November 30 to December 3, 2017.

Ahead of the high-level meeting, the delegation held discussion with Song Tao, Minister of the International Department of CPC Central Committee on ways to strengthen relations between the two parties.

During talks, the two sides discussed on, among others, CPC’s intra-party democracy, disciplinary supervision and inspection as well as on decisions taken at the 19th National Congress of the Party.

Stating that the recent Congress of the Party was successful, Demeke said the decisions taken at the assembly would benefit not only the people of China but also the people of the world.

On behalf of himself and EPRDF, Demeke congratulated the Party.

Strengthening intra-party democracy was one of the decisions taken at the Congress, Song Tao said, adding his party is keen to share its experience for EPRDF. 

According to office of EPRDF, the two parties agreed to cooperate on a number of issues.
