Addis Ababa, December 16, 2017 (FBC) –The IGAD-led High-Level Revitalization Forum (HLRF) for the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in South Sudan kicked off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today.

The five-day Forum provides a unique opportunity to bring all the parties to the conflict and other stakeholders to the negotiation table.

Leaving aside their differences, South Sudanese warring parties need to do their part for the peace and stability of their country, said Hailemariam Desalegn, current Chairperson of IGAD and Prime Minister of Ethiopia, while opening the Forum

The Forum is the last opportunity to ensure peace in South Sudan and IGAD will take the necessary action if the current efforts are failed, the Premier indicated.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, for his part urged South Sudanese parties to seize the opportunity to resolve the crisis in their country.

Yesterday, the IGAD Council of Ministers, called upon all South Sudanese stakeholders participating in the Forum to seize the opportunity to take South Sudan out of the deep crisis it is currently facing.

It also urged all the parties to commit themselves to immediately silence the guns in South Sudan and cease any form of hostile propaganda.
