Ethiopia's inflation remains unchanged in December

Addis Ababa, November 3, 2017 (FBC) –Ethiopia's year-on-year inflation remained unchanged at 13.6 percent in December, according to the Central Statistical Agency (CSA).

The rate had increased in November to 13.6 percent from 12.2 percent in October.

In December, the prices of major cereals declined except rice, according to a statement the agency sent to FBC today.

In general, decline was observed in major food components such as cereals, pulses and vegetables in the current month but the inflation rate was higher as compared with the same period last year, it said.

The non-food inflation also increased mainly due to rise in the prices of chat, clothing and footwear, housing and energy, household goods and furnishings as well as health care.
