Premier urges all citizens to contribute share for establishment of Adwa Pan Africa University

Addis Ababa, January 15, 2018 (FBC) – Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn has urged all members of the society to contribute their share for the establishment of Adwa Pan Africa University.

A nationwide conference for the establishment of the university kicked off in Addis Ababa today.

Speaking at the event, Prime Minister Hailemariam said Adwa Pan Africa University will be a museum to show the glorious history of the black people.

The government would give special attention for such type of huge project which could build national reconciliation, the Premier added.

He said the government has put aside 200 million birr for the construction the university for this year alone.

All are expected to work more to make the university a research palce and center of excellence for black people, he added.

He added global diplomatic efforts will be strengthen to make the construction of the university a success as it establishment has significant role to strengthen fraternity between Africans.

Bitew Belay, coordinator of Adwa Pan Africa University establishment committee, said the Tigray regional state has granted 150 hectares of land for the construction of the African Union recognized university.

The construction of the university will be launched after two months. Its cornerstone was laid last April in Adwa town, Tigray regional state.
