Ethiopian parliament to hold urgent meeting next Friday

Addis Ababa, February 26, 2018 (FBC) – The House of People’s Representatives (HPR) of Ethiopia is to hold an urgent meeting next Friday.

Sources told FBC that members of the parliament (MPs), who are at a month-long recess, were called for the meeting.

According to the Ethiopian Constitution article 58 (4), the House of People’s Representatives shall have the power to call a meeting of the House when it is in recess.

Moreover, as per article 15 of the House’s rules and code of conduct, an extra ordinary sitting may be called during the recess of the House where urgent matters requiring its decisions arise.

The MPs were told to report their presence as of tomorrow.
