Russian, UAE FMs to visit Ethiopia next week

Addis Ababa, March 1, 2018 (FBC) –Ministers for Foreign Affairs of Russia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will pay an official visit to Ethiopia as of next week, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia (MoFA).

Meles Alem, Spokesperson of MoFA, told journalists today that Russia’s Foreign Minister, Sergey Lavrov, will visit the country as of March 8, 2018 to cement the longstanding relations between the two countries.

During his stay in Addis Ababa, Lavrov will review implementation of agreements at the 5th Joint Commission of Ethiopia and Russia. The two countries had previously inked agreements to cooperate in education, science, agriculture, and other sectors.

Similarly, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of UAE, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, will visit Ethiopia from 5-7, March 2018, to further elevate the ties between Ethiopia and Abu Dhabi, he said.

On March 7, 2018, he will meet with Ethiopia’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Dr Workneh Gebeyehu to discuss on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest, Meles noted.

The joint technical committee of the two countries will be held on March 5 and 6, according to the Spokesperson.
