IGAD health ministerial meeting kicks off in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, March 19, 2018 (FBC) – The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) health ministerial meeting on refugees and other cross-border programs kicked off in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia today.

The meeting was opened with a remark from Professor Yifru Berhan, Minister of Health of Ethiopia.

Today’s meeting is intended to discuss and endorse the validation of the IGAD HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria strategic plan for 2018-2025 as well as to deliberate on the cross border disease.

The IGAD member states last week held a two-day workshop to validate the 8-year HIV, tuberculosis and malaria strategic plan.

The purpose of the strategic plan is to complement the national strategic plans of the member states regarding the three diseases.

The focus of the IGAD strategic plan is on cross border and mobile populations which have gained more attention in the recent years.
