Ethiopia begins talks with the Oromo Democratic Front

Addis Ababa, May 14, 2018 (FBC) –The government of Ethiopia has begun talks with the Oromo Democratic Front (ODF), a party based in a foreign country.

The government of Ethiopia is making every effort to ensure peace and security, said Government Communications Affairs Office (GCAO) in a statement sent to FBC today.

As per its decision to hold talks with political parties that want to operate peacefully and in line with the Constitution, the government of Ethiopia invited political parties for peace talks.

Accordingly, it has held talks with Oromo Democratic Front, the statement added.

The government of Ethiopia appreciates ODF’s decision to accept the invitation and operate peacefully, it added.

The discussion held so far with the Front was successful, the statement said, adding the government of Ethiopia is also ready to hold talks with political parties that wants to work peaceful.

Leaders of the Front will arrive in Ethiopians soon and additional talks will be held in the capital Addis Ababa, the statement added.
