Premier in Afar regional state for public consultation

Addis Ababa, June 28, 2018 (FBC) – Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed arrived in Semera, the capital of Afar regional state today.

He is currently holding discussion with representatives of the community drawn from the regional state.

The discussion mainly focused on problems of good governance and other issues related to development.

In his opening remark, the Premier said as a result of its proximity to the strategic location Red Sea, the Afar people defended the sovereignty of the country against foreign invaders.

The Prime Minister also urged the residents to maximize efforts to build a beautiful and united Ethiopia.

The government will do all it can to make the region a tourist destination as Afar is home of Lucy, source of the human race and endowed with abundant natural resources.

He added that the federal government, in partnership with the regional state, will work to effectively exploit and use the potash and livestock resources available in the state to improve the livelihoods of the people.

A foundation stone was laid for the construction of a new industrial park which will create 20,000 jobs.
