EIIPD organized a seminar on “NATO and the Ukraine Crisis”

Addis Ababa: November 20, 2014 (FBC) – The Ethiopian International Institute for Peace and Development, an autonomous capacity building center of excellence engaged in research and training geared towards peace and development, organized a brief seminar yesterday on the crisis in Ukraine.

EIIPD invited Dr. Brooke S. Windsor, a founding member of the NATO Defense College (NDC) to speak on “NATO and the Ukraine Crisis”. Various academicians, practitioners and members of the diplomatic community were present at the seminar.

Dr. Windsor presented a brief description on the Ukrainian crisis and how the conflict has redefined the nature of conflicts in 21 century Europe. He outlined an analysis of the deteriorating security situation in Europe over the past year.

Executive Director of the EIIPD Sebhat Nega made a remark that the people of Ukraine should be at the core of the peaceful resolution of the Ukrainian crisis. He stressed the need to phantom the internal situation of Ukraine before the crisis spun out of control as a crucial approach in addressing the problem.

The presentation was followed by a lively Q & A session.
