Chinese Vice President on a two-day official visit to Ethiopia

Addis Ababa, November 17, 2016 (FBC) - The Vice President of the People's Republic of China Li Yuanchao has arrived in Addis Ababa today for a two day official visit to Ethiopia.

Upon his arrival at the Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, he was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen and high level government officials and other senior diplomats.

The Vice President held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn later today.

Following the bilateral talks, the two sides signed a loan agreement which would be used to boost accesses to safe drinking water in Addis Ababa and for the construction of a railway academy.

Li Yuanchao is also expected to meet with Deputy Chairperson of EPRDF, Demeke Mekonnen, to discuss on party -to-party relations between EPRDF and CPC.

He is also expected to attend a seminar jointly organized by the Ethiopian People’s Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF) and Communist Party of China (CPC).

The Vice President will conclude his Ethiopia tour by visiting Addis Ababa Light Rail and the Eastern Industrial Zone before heading to South Africa.
