Ethiopia launches agricultural extension strategy

Addis Ababa, March 20, 2017 (FBC) –Ethiopia has launched an agricultural extension strategy which employs market-oriented and demand driven system. Stakeholders held a discussion on the strategy today.

Dr. Eyasu Abreha, Minister of Agriculture and Natural Resources said the agricultural extension system has contributed a lot in assisting the efforts being made to reduce poverty through improving productivity.

He said the strategy will play a crucial role to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers, add values and feed industrial parks as well as to benefit women and youth.

The strategy was developed based on consultative and interactive processes facilitated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Agricultural Transformation Agency.
