UNWTO Commission for Africa meeting key to promote Ethiopia’s tourism potential: State Minister

Addis Ababa, April 11, 2017 (FBC) -The 59th meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Commission for Africa and high-level meeting on Chinese outbound tourism to Africa, will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from 18 to 21 of April 2017.

In a press conference she issued today in connection with the event, Meaza Gebremedihn, State Minister of Culture and Tourism said the meeting would create a good opportunity for Ethiopia to promote its tourism potentials to the world.

Moreover, it helps to build the country’s image, she noted.

More than 200 participants, including Secretary General of the Organization, member states, affiliate members, invited delegations, representatives of tourism organizations and other stakeholders are expected to take part at the event.

Participants will also visit various tourist attraction sites in the country, including the National Museum.

UNWTO Regional Program for Africa has a mission to support and assist African members as well as other stakeholders in their efforts to develop their tourism industry as a catalyst for sustainable economic and social development.
