The Speaker made the remake here at Sheraton Addis today at a consultative forum being held with a view to boosting the contribution of CSOs in the ongoing process of democratization in Ethiopia.
Civil society and professional associations have indispensable role to build democracy and bring good governance, Abadula said at the opening of the forum.
The government of Ethiopia has been providing support for councils at all levels and civil society organizations to improve democracy in the country, he said, further pledging to strengthen the support.
The forum organized by Fana Broadcasting Corporate, in partnership with Office of the Prime Minister and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) saw a research paper presentation dealing with the participation and contribution of CSOs in Ethiopia.
According to the research paper, CSOs have contributions in the process of democratization and also contributed a lot in various countries regardless of political ideologies.
It added that people could be more influential if they get organized, instead of acting individually so as to ensure their interest and benefits.
The research paper stated the presence of a gap in the proclamation which came into effect to adjust the administrative cost of CSOs and recommended the decree to be amended to avoid the gap and its impact on members of the CSOs.
By doing this, it would be possible to avoid extremism, prevent conflict and create strong community bonds, it said.
