Council of Ministers passes decision on various draft regulations

Addis Ababa, July 15, 2017 (FBC) –In its 35th regular meeting held yesterday, the Council of Ministers passed decision on draft regulations primed on accession to WTO, regional trade ties and negotiations as well as issuance of license for silica mineral production.

Taking into account their importance in ensuring the benefit of the country from the global trade and for the timely culmination of regional trade accord and negotiation, the Council decided the draft regulations on WTO and regional trade ties to be operative with necessary amendments on them.

The Council also accepted and approved the license issued for the indigenous Newera Mining plc to engage in silica production in Gurage zone.

Moreover, the Council urged the Ethiopian Airports Enterprise (EAE) to work in coordination with the Ethiopian Airlines, Africa’s largest airline group, so as to become competitive in the sector and provide swift service for clients.

According to ENA, the Council of Ministers also discussed and referred 10 bilateral agreements which Ethiopia had concluded with various countries to the House of Peoples’ Representatives (HPR) for approval.
