Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church appoints 15 bishops

Addis Ababa, July 17, 2017 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has appointed 15 new bishops to serve in various zones across the country.

Their appointments took place yesterday at the Holy Trinity Cathedral in the presence of Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.

Speaking on the occasion, the Patriarch urged the new bishops to fulfill their responsibilities in building ethical generation.

Kassa Tekeleberhan, Minister of Federal and Pastoralists Development Affairs, for his part called on the new appointees to contribute their share for the development and security of the country besides teaching the faithful.

The new bishops on their part pledged to better serve fellow believers and discharge their responsibilities for the sustainability of ongoing development and prevailing peace.
