PM Hailemariam receives delegation from Chinese Shandong province

Addis Ababa, September 8, 2017 (FBC) –Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn today received a Chinese delegation led by Wang Shujian, vice governor of Shandong province.

During the meeting, PM Hailemariam said Chinese investors would be advantageous if they invest in Ethiopia in tourism, industry, construction of infrastructures, agro-industry and manufacturing as the country has favorable investment climate for foreign investment. 

In order to further strengthen the people-to-people ties between the two countries, Ethiopia is working to attract 3 million Chinese tourists over the coming three years, the Premier added.

Wang Shujian for his part said investors from Shandong province, who have expertise in computer production and assembly, urban development and construction of infrastructures (expressway), are keen to invest in Ethiopia.

There is favorable situation here in Ethiopia to set up a Sino Truck spare parts manufacturing plant, he said, adding investment in Ethiopia helps reach the whole Africa since the country is the seat for the African Union (AU).

The visit by the delegation came following the invitation by PM Hailemariam during his visit to Shandong, according to Office of the Prime Minister.
