UPSNP transforming livelihood of low income citizens: Deputy PM

Addis Ababa, October 27, 2020 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen stated that the Urban Productive Safety Net Project (UPSNP) has been contributing in transforming livelihood of low income households in Ethiopia.

The Deputy Prime Minister has today officially launched the second round Urban Productive Safety Net Project in Dessie town.

Ministers and other high ranking officials at federal and regional level including Presidents of Amhara and Somali Regions, Mustafa Oumer and Temesgen Tiruneh and World Bank representatives have attended the launching ceremony.

On the occasion, the Deputy Prime Minister said that the project has played an important role in transforming livelihoods of citizens in to sustainable improvement.

Activities in the project reward with mental satisfaction for they involve compassionate deeds that focus on helping the disabled, the Deputy Premier added.

It is stated on the occasion that the project will run with a budget of 550 Million US Dollars to be secured from the World Bank Group and the Ethiopian government.

Deputy Premier Demeke further called up on all stakeholders to contribute their share in transforming livelihoods of needy segments of the community.
