MoH, partners launch $31.5mln project to restore conflict-ridden health facilities

Addis Ababa, March 29, 2023 (FBC) –  The Ministry of Health-Ethiopia (MoH) in collaboration with the European Union and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) have launched CARE4Health project to restore health facilities affected by conflict and natural disasters at a cost of 31.5 US dollars (1.7 billion birr),

Building Capacities and Restoring Essential Health Services (CARE4Health) further aims to build the capacities of health facilities, it is learned.

Prioritizing the health and well-being of women, newborns, children, and adolescents, the Ministry and its partners launched the CARE4Health project to restore essential health services in conflict-affected and remote areas in Ethiopia

It is indicated that Dereje Dhuguma, Ethiopia’s State Minister of Health and Roland Kobia, EU Ambassador to Ethiopia have attended the launching event.

During the launching event, the State Minister stated that the project will be implemented in accordance with the grant agreement reached with EU to implement a three-year project via 1.7 billion birr (31.5 million US dollars) support to rebuild and strengthen the capacity of health facilities.

Derje mentioned that 208 health institutions will be equipped with reconstruction, material and medicine resources, and psychological support and health insurance services will be strengthened.

The project will be implemented in Afar, Tigray, Amhara, Oromia and Southern regions, according to the State Minister.
