All Africa Leather Fair kicks off in Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa, April 20, 2023 (FBC) – The 13th All Africa Leather Fair is underway in Addis Ababa in participation of producers, machinery suppliers, technology enterprises and financial institutions.

The Ethiopian Industry Minister, Alebel Melaku and the UNIDO Ethiopia Representative Aurelia Calabro have opened the leather fair.

The Industry Minister said that Ethiopia has attached a higher priority to the manufacturing sector. He added the Leather Fair creates an opportunity that will contribute to the ongoing homegrown economic reform in Ethiopia.

President of the Ethiopian Leather Industries Association, Redman Bedada, for his party said, the exhibition can serve as a gateway to Africa, connecting the continent with the rest of the world.

UNIDO pledged commitment to continue supporting Ethiopia with leather value chain, sustainable leather sector and employment creation.

“I would like to reiterate the importance of working together in the effort to industrialize Africa by focusing on the private sector especially the small and micro enterprise which are the bases for the economy and employment,” said Aurelia Calabro, UNIDO Representative to Ethiopia.

All Africa Leather Fair will continue for three days until April 22 at the Millennium Hall.
