Aluto Langano Geothermal plant expansion project begins trial production

Addis Ababa, April 19, 2022 (FBC) – One of the four completed wells in the Aluto Langano Geothermal Plant expansion project has started a trial power production, Project Manager Mesay Fikadu stated.

The Aluto Langano Geothermal Expansion Project drilling was begun on May 2021, Mesay said, adding that the drilling of the fifth well has reached 700 meters length to the ground.

Activities have been started to launch the drilling of the sixth hole, said. Mesay added that the second hole will be starting pilot production after two weeks.

The expansion project is aimed to increase power production capacity of the Aluto Langano Geothermal plant to 70 MW, Mesay indicated.
