Addis Ababa set to build sewage treatment plant

Addis Ababa, January 30, 2024 (FBC) – Addis Ababa City administration is set to build sewage water treatment plant with the support of the World Bank Group, Mayor of the Ethiopian capital, Ms. Adanech Abiebie confirmed today.

“With 145 million dollars budget from the World Bank, we have signed a contract with CGC OC Contractors to build sewage water treatment plant,” the Mayor wrote on her social media page.

Upon completion, the plant is projected to serve 1.2 million residents of eastern Addis Ababa, which includes Bole, Lemi Kurra and Yeka sub-cities, Ms. Adanech indicated.

The Mayor also vowed to keep thriving to make Addis Ababa a city that deserves its name: the new flower. “On behalf of Addis Ababa’s residents, I would like to thank the [World] Bank for its unreserved support of the city,” she added.
