Ambassadors urged to promote untapped potential in mining, tourism sectors

Addis Ababa, March 1, 2022 (FBC) – The capacity-building training given to newly appointed Ethiopian ambassadors, in its afternoon session, today focused on promoting the mining and tourism sectors of the country.

State Minister of the Ministry of Tourism, Seleshi Girma, said the tourism sector is one of the pillars of the country’s economy under the ongoing economic reform.

He said the importance of the sector goes beyond the obvious economic benefits in promoting the multifaceted cultural values of its people.

Considering all the benefits of the tourism sector, he said Ethiopian ambassadors should strive to promote the ongoing utilization of the country’s natural resources for tourism purposes.  

Speaking on the encouraging activities in the mining industry, State Minister of the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, Million Matheos said the institutional reforms enabled the Ministry to provide an expedited quality service to investors.

He said Ethiopian ambassadors are expected to promote the resources in the mining sector to foreign investors.

Speaking at the session, State Minister for Political and Economic Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Redwan Hussein, stressed the importance of tourism and mining to the country’s economy underlining the need to promote them.
