Board calls registered parties to submit their electoral symbols

Addis Ababa, January 20, 2021 (FBC) – National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has called political parties that completed registration process ahead of 6th national elections to submit their electoral symbols.

The board has set up timetable of submission date from January 21 – 26, 2021.

Screening criteria have been put as follows:

  1. The National Electoral Board of Ethiopia has prepared electoral symbols out of which party representatives to choose signs that best represent them
  2. Party representatives shall get their symbols registered; and registered symbols will not be offered for selection
  3. Parties which do not get their symbols as to their preferences and want to submit their own symbols are required to fulfill the following criteria:
  • They have to bring their printed symbols in person to for registration
  • Parties are required to bring digital format of their symbol with flush disc
  • Symbols must be printed in black and white colors
  • Electoral symbols must have a size of 2 cm length by 2cm width
  • Picture quality of symbols should be of 200 to 300 Pixels
  • Maximum file size of symbols should not exceed 200 megabyte
  1. The board will conduct verification of symbols and make decisions accordingly from January 26 – April 1, 2021 as the screening run till January 26 from January 21.
  2. Representatives of any political party which completed registration process can contact Political Parties Center at Yeshi Bulding in front of Bole Bringing Press in person during working times from January 21 – 26, 2021 for registration.
  3. The registration and screening of electoral symbols does not include private parties for their time table will be announced in the future.
