Council Of Ministers Approves Various Draft Bills

Addis Ababa, December 14, 2019 (FBC) –The Council of Ministers in its 77th regular session held today, December 14, approved various draft bills.

First, the Council discussed on the public development projects administration and management bill tabled by the National Planning and Development Commission.

The aim of the bill is to bring accountability and transparency by clearly determining the responsibilities of government officials and address extra cost resulted from project delays.

After an in-depth discussion, the Council referred the draft bill to the parliament for approval.

The Council also sent to the parliament the bill tabled by the Attorney General to approve the Convention on the Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Arbitral Awards.

It was noted that the approval of the Convention would contribute a lot towards increasing foreign direct investment flow to the country through reducing investment risks.

The Council further approved the bills by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to approve different agreements.

The Council permitted to take effect the draft regulation tabled by the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum for the re-establishment of the Ethiopian Mineral, Petroleum and Biofuel Corporation.
