Deputy PM and FM Demeke receives Israeli high level delegation led by FM Envoy Barl-Li

Addis Ababa, October 7, 2021 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister Demeke Mekonnen received and held talks with an Israeli delegation led by Head of African Affairs Division of Israel Foreign Ministry Ambassador Sharon Bar-Li today.

During the discussion, Demeke underlined that the two countries shall transform their long standing and historical ties into an enhanced economic cooperation.

Ethiopia has profound interest to work in collaboration with Israel in areas of agriculture, peace and security sectors. Demeke also briefed the delegation on the newly established government of Ethiopia.

The Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister expressed confidence that Israel will help Ethiopia in fending off unwarranted external pressures.

The current intention to impose  on Ethiopia is unacceptable, Demeke noted, reiterating Ethiopia’s commitment to work in partnership with the international community to address circumstances.

The Israeli Foreign Minister, to her part, appreciated the Ethiopian side for detailed explanations on latest developments in the country pledging Israel’s commitment to cement bilateral ties with Ethiopia.
