DPM, FM Demeke confers with South African, Moroccan and Chadian FMs

Addis Ababa, July 14, 2023 (FBC) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister DemekeMekonnen earlier today conferred with the Foreign Ministers of South Africa, Morocco, and Chad, Naledi Pandor, Nasir Baourita and Mahamat Saleh, respectively.

Demeke briefed the Foreign Ministers on the post-conflict peace consolidation efforts of the Government in the wake of the signing of the Pretoria Peace Agreement and stressed Ethiopia’s commitment to further cement multifaceted diplomatic ties with the countries by revitalising joint ministerial commissions (JMCs).

Madame Pandor said South Africa is committed to supporting the implementation of the Pretoria Peace Agreement.

Moroccan FM Bourita also stated that his country attaches special attention to its relations with Ethiopia and expressed Morocco’s keenness to cooperate in agriculture and education.

Chadian FM Saleh also stressed his country’s interest to revamp relations and expedite cooperation at bilateral, regional and multilateral venues.

The bilateral meetings took place on the margins of the 43rd Ordinary Session of the Executive Council of the African Union.
