EEU, CCECC strike deal to build a technology center of excellence

Addis Ababa, September 29, 2023 (FBC) – Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU) and China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) signed a contract document to build a technology center of excellence.

The center will be built in EEU’s premises stationed in Kotebe sub-city, Addis Ababa, at a cost of 9 billion 341 million 596 thousand 232 birr.

The agreement was signed by Ethiopian Electricity Utility CEO, Shiferaw Telila, and CCECC Ethiopia Branch Deputy General Manager Wu Jiuyi.

When the center is completed, it will be of great benefit to make the service provided to customers reliable, efficient and advanced, compatible with the contemporary technology, said Mr. Shiferaw.

Wu Jiuyi, for his part, confirmed that the CCECC will complete the construction of the center on schedule and hand it over with quality.

The center will have electrical technology vocational training shops, research and excellence center, national distribution SCADA control center, distribution equipment inspection and laboratory facilities.

It will also include a modern meeting hall, bedrooms for trainees and guests, a cafeteria and various sports facilities, according to EEU.
