Emperor Naruhito vows to taka Japan-Ethiopia relations to a new height

Addis Ababa, July 20, 2023 (FBC) – Newly appointed Ethiopian Ambassador to Japan, Daba Debele presented his Letter of Credence to the Emperor of Japan, His Majesty Naruhito.

During the ceremony which was held at the Imperial Palace, Emperor Naruhito reaffirmed the commitment of the Japanese Government to take Japan-Ethiopia relations to a new height.

Ambassador Daba also echoed Ethiopia’s continued commitment to further deepen the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two countries.

Emperor Naruhito briefly mentioned his fond memories of world-renowned Marathon legend Shambel Abebe Bikila during the 1964 Tokyo Olympics.

Afterwards the envoy held a fruitful deliberation with Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Yasutoshi Nishimura.

The Minister lauded the efforts of the Government of Ethiopia in peacefully resolving the Northern conflict and expressed his country’s readiness to cooperate in the areas of trade, investment and industrial development.

Ambassador Daba also underscored Ethiopia’s keenness to further deepen Ethio-Japanese trade and investment ties to the furtherance of mutually beneficial economic cooperation.
