Ethiopia, Algeria agree to forge multifaceted cooperation

Addis Ababa, July 28, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Algeria have agreed to forge multifaceted cooperation and boost partnership at regional level.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Affairs Minister  Demeke Mekonnen received and held talks with Algerian Foreign Affairs Minister, Ramtane Lamamra and held talks on ways of forging strong cooperation between the two countries in multifaceted areas of engagement.

Deputy Prime Minister Demeke briefed the Algerian Foreign Minister on latest developments regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) and situation in Tigray region.

The two sides stressed need to jointly play an important role in the African Union (AU) for wellbeing of the region and beyond.

 

On the other hand, the Algerian Foreign Minister conferred with President Sahle-Work Zewdie on various issues including strategic partnership between the two countries and peace and security issues.

The Foreign Minister delivered message of the Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde.
