Ethiopia confirms two news COVID-19 cases

Addis Ababa, May 1, 2020 (FBC) –Two people have tested positive for COVID-19, out of the 912 samples taken over the past 24 hours.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 133.

The two confirmed cases are Ethiopian nationals who came from Kenya and Puntland, according to the Ministry of Health. They were in Moyale and Jigjiga University mandatory quarantines.

Seven people have also recovered from the virus, bringing the number of recoveries to 66.

Ethiopia has so far reported three deaths from the virus. The country’s overall test count currently stands at 18, 754.

According to data from Worldometer, the virus has so far sickened more than 3.2 million people, while killing more than 228, 000.

The number of people recovered from the virus has also increased to more than 1 million.
