Ethiopia, Djibouti sign agreement to improve Dikhil – Daguru Road

Addis Ababa, October 15, 2020 (FBC) – Ethiopia and Djibouti have signed an agreement to revamp the 80 kilometres Dikhil Daguru road, a part of Galafi highway.

Ethiopian Construction Works Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Yonas Ayalew and Djibouti Ports Corridor Roads Director General, Abdi Ebrahim Farah have signed the agreement on behalf of their respective countries.

The signing agreement has been attended by Minister of Ministry of Transport Damawit Moges and Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority Director Abubeker Oumer Haji.

It is indicated on the signing ceremony that the Dikhil – Daguru have been damaged to the extent that has been hindering the transportation system across the cross border highway connecting Ethiopia with Djibouti.

On the occasion, it is stated that an 80km detour will be constructed soon while the main construction phase of the road is to be started with in the coming two months.

The repair work is said crucial to address issues related to time-wasting transportation problems that emanated damaged on the Galafi cross border highway.
