Ethiopia opens honorary consulate in Turin, Italy

Addis Ababa, May 9, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian Ambassador to Italy Demitu Hambisa, opened the new honorary consulate of Ethiopia in Torino, Italy yesterday.

Engineer Franco Rubini is the new Honorary Consul of Ethiopia in Torino, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

He was a lecturer in Building Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Turin and now a Director of ACTA.

A number of distinguished guests – honorary consuls, academicians, entrepreneurs, and business persons participated in the opening ceremony.

Ambassador Demitu briefed the honorary consul and participants about Ethiopia mainly about opportunities for FDI, favourable laws regarding investment, home-grown economic reform, and ten-year economic plan and priority sectors in Ethiopia.

The ambassador also added that Piedmont, as a province with advanced technologies and different industries, will be a source of many investors to Ethiopia in the near future.

Honorary Consul Engineer Franco Rubin, on his part, promised to strengthen trade, tourism, economic and cultural relations between Ethiopia and Piedmont, Italy, and also to provide support to Ethiopians in Piedmont.
