Ethiopia reaffirms commitment to strengthen ties with Russia and the UAE

Addis Ababa, April 23, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia has reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening ties bilaterally and within the BRICS platform with Russia and the United Arab Emirates.

In a post published on X, Ambassador Mesganu Arga, Ethiopia’s Minister of State for Economic and Political Diplomacy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted productive dialogues with Mr. Sergey Ryabkov, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation and Russia’s Sherpa in BRICS, as well as Saeed Al Hajeri, Assistant Minister of Economic and Trade Affairs and the UAE’s Sherpa, during the second BRICS Sherpa meeting in Moscow.

During the sideline meeting, State Minister Mesganu reiterated Ethiopia’s commitment to enhancing relations both bilaterally and within the BRICS platform with Russia and the UAE.

Note that the second BRICS Sherpas/Sous-Sherpas meeting on the partner country model is currently taking place in Moscow, Russia this week. In the meeting, Ethiopia has restated its commitment to the BRICS vision and expressed its willingness to fulfill its obligations in order to foster a meaningful and productive partnership for inclusive and sustainable development.
