Ethiopia records 136 new cases, 17 recoveries in 24 hours

Addis Ababa, June 8, 2020 (FBC) –Ethiopia reported 136 new cases of the coronavirus in the last one day, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 2,156.

The new cases were identified out of 4,775 laboratory tests conducted in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health.

Of the total new confirmed cases, 85 are male and 51 are female aged between one and 97 years.

Some 124 of the confirmed cases are Ethiopians, while the remaining are foreign nationals.

Of the new cases, 115 are from Addis Ababa, nine from Oromia, seven from Tigray, two each from Harari and Somali and one from SNNP regional states.

Some 17 people have also recovered from the virus, raising the total number of recoveries to 361.

There are now a total of 1,766 active cases in Ethiopia, with 32 of them in a severe condition.

The total number of tests conducted since the onset of the virus now stands at 147, 735.
