Ethiopia reiterates commitment to further strengthen IGAD

Addis Ababa, November 30, 2015 (FBC) – Ambassador Extraordinary and plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to Djibouti and IGAD, Berhanu Tsegaye, Expressed Ethiopia’s continued commitment to keep fulfilling its obligations to further strengthen the Intergovernmental Authority on Development.

The pledge by the Ambassador was made during the IGAD 2023 Annual Budget Meeting of member states, ministerial experts and Committee of Ambassadors held in Bishoftu, Ethiopia from 07 – 09, December 2022.

Addressing participants of the meeting, Ambassador Berhanu acknowledged the tremendous efforts and achievements of IGAD in promoting peace and stability, and coordinating response efforts for the multitude of natural and environmental catastrophes, and the financial up-hills.

Ambassador Berhanu reiterated that, Ethiopia will continue paying its annual contribution promptly and accepts the proposed 10% increment of the organizations budget to be raised from Member States.

Ambassador Berhanu also called on IGAD member states to pay their annual contributions and arrears on time.

The meeting was concluded by adopting the proposed budget proposal for the year 2023.
