Ethiopia, RoK sign MoU for cooperation in agricultural mechanization

Addis Ababa, October 20, 2023 (FBC) – The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Republic of Korea have inked the MoU for cooperation in the fields of industrial technology and agricultural machinery.

The Ethiopian Agriculture Minister, Girma Amente (PhD) and President of the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology has signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of their respective countries.

The Agriculture Minister appreciated Republic of Korea’s willingness to cooperate with Ethiopia in transforming the agriculture sector, describing the sector as the backbone of the economy of the nation.

It was stated on the signing ceremony that the agreement is aimed to assist the development and maintenance of agricultural machineries, modernize the agro-processing sector and enhance mechanization of the wheat farming in all value chains from production to processing.

In a related story, Ethiopian Trade and Regional Integration Ministry and Trade, Industry and Energy Ministry of the Republic of Korea have signed MoU to work together in enhancing trade ties between the two countries.

Ethiopia’s Minister of Trade and Regional Integration, Gebremeskel Chala and the Industry and Energy Minister of the Republic of Korea Bang Moon Kyu signed the deal representing their respective institutions.

On the occasion, Minister Bang Moon Kyu commended the MoU as a major step to boost trade ties between the two nations.
