Addis Ababa, August 27, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Transport said it will launch public traffic awareness campaign next Ethiopian new year which starts after two weeks.
Minister of Transport, Dagmawit Moges, told journalists today that the campaign will begin from September 6 and continues throughout the year with various programs.
Civic Society Organizations (CSOs), media and different sections of the society will participate in the campaign, she said.
The Ministry also conducted similar campaign in the concluded Ethiopian fiscal year, which ended July 7.
According to Dagmawit, road traffic fatality in Ethiopia has declined to 34% per 10,000 vehicles in the concluded fiscal year from 54% two years ago.
Moreover, efforts are underway to significantly cut fatality rate from road traffic accidents, she said.
