Addis Ababa, April 17, 2024 (FBC) – The Minister of Industry, Alebel Melaku, held discussions with Managing Director of the Directorate for SDG Innovation and Economic Transformation at UNIDO, Gunther Beger on how to facilitate support for the agro-industrial sector in Ethiopia.
The two exchanged views on the implementation of a UNIDO’s Program for Country Partnership Ethiopia to boost the economy by supporting industrial parks specialized in the agro-processing sector and establishing a center of excellence with the aim of boosting sustainable development capabilities, among others.
Melaku said that promising cooperation is being done with the UNIDO in an effort to improve the livelihood of farmers in capacitating the agro-processing industrial parks.
The Minister stressed that it is necessary to support the integrated agro-industrial parks in Ethiopia to achieve the goals set to achieve agricultural transformation.
Gunther Beger, for his part, affirmed UNIDO’s commitment to work jointly with stakeholders to materialize the agreement reached to establish a center of excellence with the purpose of building capacities for sustainable development through effective implementation of the Program for Country Partnership Ethiopia.
