Ethiopian coffee scoops the 6th African Food Awards

Addis Ababa, June 17, 2023 (FBC) – Wild Coffee Ethiopia, the Ethiopian emerging coffee company, wins the Africa Food Awards as one of  the Rising star Company of the Year in Africa, in a ceremony held yesterday in Nairobi, Kenya.

Present at the ceremony, Mr.Belay Gebre-Selassie, Minister for Economic Affairs of the Embassy of Ethiopia in Nairobi, handed over the award to Mr. Gezahign Mamo, Owner and Managing Director of the company.

During the occasion, Mr. Belay commended the organizers for recognizing one of Ethiopia’s vibrant coffee companies, stating that such awards add a huge impetus to the growing economic ties of the two sisterly countries.

On his part, the Managing Director announced his ompany’s intention of opening the first international wild coffee tasting house in the city of Nairobi very soon.

The recognition ceremony was attended by more than 350 people and over 50 African Companies received different awards in various catagories, according to the Ethiopian Embassy in Nairobi.

Since its first edition in 2017, the Africa Food Awards celebrate the people, new product innovations, sustainability initiatives and leading companies in Africa’s food industry, it is learned.

It is also noted that the awards have become Sub-Saharan Africa’s most respected food industry awards process and ceremony.
