Ethiopian delegation attending 3rd South Summit of G77 + China

Addis Ababa, January 21, 2024 (FBC) – The 3rd South Summit of the G77 + China has officially opened today, January 21, 2024, under the theme “Leaving No One Behind” in Kampala, Uganda.

The Ethiopian delegation is participating in this Third South Summit of the Group of 77 and China that is underway at Speke Resort, Munyonyo, Kampala.

On this influential platform for the Global South countries, collective commitments for solidarity, unity, and complementarity are promoted among its 134 member states with a progressive global vision for prosperity, equality, and peace.

In an ever-changing global landscape, the Third South Summit looks to bring a crucial global perspective and dynamism among its member states in the era of a complex and competitive world.

The summit aims at boosting South-South cooperation, including in the areas of trade, investment, sustainable development, climate change, poverty eradication, and the digital economy.

During the opening ceremony, President Kaguta Museveni of Uganda officially took over the chairmanship of the G77+China from the President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel.
