Ethiopian delegation clinches 6 medals at Mandela African Boxing Cup

Addis Ababa, April 22, 2024 (FBC) – The Ethiopian boxing team has amassed three silver and three bronze medals at the inaugural Mandela African Boxing Cup in Durban, South Africa, as confirmed today by the Ministry of Culture and Sports.

Surafel Alayu, Million Chefo, and Bethel Woldu, Ethiopian boxers, each secured a bronze medal. Meanwhile, Betelhem Gezahegn, Roman Aseffa, and Temesgen Mitku were awarded silver medals for finishing as runners-up in their respective competitions.

In light of these achievements, the Ministry has announced that the Ethiopian Boxing delegation is set to receive a warm welcome upon their arrival at Bole International Airport on April 23 at 2:00 p.m.

The Mandela African Boxing Cup, being the first edition of its kind, brought together talented boxers from across the continent to compete at the highest level. This historic event provided a platform for athletes to showcase their skills and sportsmanship, fostering camaraderie and healthy competition among nations.
