Ethiopian diaspora in Washington DC pledges 200,000$ for ‘Gebeta Lehager’ project

Addis Ababa, May 29, 2023 (FBC) – The Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Adanech Abiebie met and held discussions with Ethiopian diaspora community in Washington DC.

In the discussions, the city Mayor has provided detailed information about investment opportunities in Addis Ababa.

“Despite the distorted information in various media channels, the diaspora community realized Addis Ababa’s great initiative towards people-oriented works and completed and ongoing mega projects, the community showed its interest to be part of the initiatives,” Adanech tweeted after her meeting with Ethiopian diaspora community in Washington DC.

It is stated that during the discussions with the city Mayor the diaspora community promised to give 200,000$ support for the ‘Gebeta Lehager’ project.

The community also promised to continue to support the projects until they are built and completed.

Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Adanech Abiebie expressed her gratitude to the Ethiopian Embassy in Washington DC and diaspora members who have contributed to the success of the delegation of Addis Ababa city trip in USA.

It is to be recall that Mayor of Addis Ababa City, Adanech Abiebie met with her Washington D.C. counterpart, Muriel Bowser, in the U.S. capital and held discussion on strengthening bilateral relations.

It is indicated that the delegation of Addis Ababa city also visited the capital river front redevelopment projects around Navy yard and recycling projects built by public and private partnerships.
