Ethiopian Muslims celebrate the 1442nd Eid al-Adha across the nation

Addis Ababa, July 20, 2021 (FBC) – Ethiopian Muslims are celebrating the 1442nd Eid al-Adha festival with various religious events across the country.

In the capital Addis Ababa thousands of faithful congregated at the Addis Ababa stadium where several religious leaders including President of Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council, Grand Mufti Hafi Omer Idris delivered Eid message.

Head of Municipal Services of Addis Ababa City, Tiratu Beyene and other officials have also attended the event.

On the festival, the Grand Mufti called on faithful to share what they have prepared at home for the feast with the needy and show compassion to all the needy while observing the festival.

Jimma, Hawassa and Dessie towns have also witnessed colorful celebration of the Eid al-Adha festival with both outdoor and indoor religious events.

Eid al-Adha is the feast of obedience and sacrifice that remembers the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ibrahim based on a call from God (Allah).
